Meet Don Cella
More Than 45 Years of Building; Developing and Solving Construction Problems
Donald P. Cella, Jr. is a construction consultant, project manager, developer and property owner with more than 45 years of hands-on experience in commercial and residential construction. His career has given him a rare perspective on construction.
Don has sat on nearly every side of the table—as a contractor, estimator, construction supervisor, developer, building owner and consultant.
Today, he puts that experience to work helping property owners successfully navigate construction and renovation projects.
Before founding Five Mile Development Group and Five Mile Consulting, Don served as Head Supervisor and Estimator for R.A. Beck Contracting, where he supervised high-end residential and commercial construction, estimated projects, managed subcontractors and oversaw projects through completion.
In 1993, Don founded Five Mile and expanded his work into commercial real estate development, construction management and adaptive reuse.
His projects became known for something that continues to define his approach today: finding creative solutions instead of automatically choosing the obvious—or most expensive—one.
Don has transformed aging and underutilized buildings into distinctive commercial properties, frequently incorporating salvaged architectural materials and working creatively with existing structures. His work includes The Gristmill Corporate Center and Stone Quarry Crossing, which received NAIOP Renovation of the Year recognition.
Today, Don provides construction consulting and project oversight for commercial property owners throughout the region. Whether he's reviewing a set of plans, walking a construction site, evaluating bids, working through an unexpected field condition, or completing a punch list, Don approaches every project from the same perspective: If I owned this project, how would I want it done?
That owner's mentality—combined with decades of field experience—is what Don brings to every client and every project.

Don Cella is the driving force behind the award-winning success of Five Mile Development Group. with over forty years' experience in the construction industry, Don knows how to get things done to the highest standards. After spending years as a successful general contractor, Don turned his attention to commercial development in 1996. With Don's emphasis on the importance of quality, innovative design and cost effective yet imaginative use of salvaged materials; Five Mile has specialized in creating upscale office space from pieces of the past in a manner both beautifully distinctive and wildly imaginative.
